The Truth About True Crime Promo
Concept, Animation Supervisor
As Malka Media built up its podcast network, we dove into the always alluring world of true crime with the aptly named show, The Truth About True Crime. Malka was lucky enough to secure Amanda Knox as the host who was famously (infamously?) tried for murder in a highly publicized case in the mid '90s. My animation team was tasked with creating a promo for the first season.
I acted as the animation supervisor and worked with our talented art director, Lucy Weigard, and my lead animator, Spencer Noble, to develop the concept. Using a crime board with notes, thumbtacks, and string as inspiration, we constructed a visually arresting piece within the theme of the show while keeping the execution simple enough to work with the budget and quick timeline.
I later had the pleasure of working with Amanda Knox as the director for season two of the podcast. I leaned heavily on Amanda's extremely unique life experiences and perspective to help highlight a story that we found to be very relevant and important: false confessions and wrongful imprisonment.
